"I am thinking about an excellent an excellent meal, recently prepared for me by Kelvin Fernandez the new Executive Chef at The Strand Bistro at the Strand Hotel on west 37th street. Kelvin was one of George Lang's last Sous Chefs at the world famous Café des Artistes restaurant. As a C-CAP graduate and CIA scholarship winner, I am very proud of all that Kelvin has accomplished in his young career. Don't miss Kelvin's Melon & Prosciutto (made with watermelon), his Diver Scallops with Sweet Corn and Truffle Jus (perfect in every way), the Mint Scented Bean Ragu with the Rack of Lamb is a masterpiece, and don't pass up his Coconut Panna Cotta with the Lime infused Pineapple. A great way to end a summer meal! It was the first night of a new menu for a new Ex. Chef and the food and service are bound to continue their upward trend. Go before you can't get reservations and tell them to let Kelvin know that you are coming at Mr. Grausman's suggestion."

Great Place!!!
"Great Place!!! We spend New Year’s Eve at the Strand Bistro and had a wonderful time. The staff is friendly and goes out of their way to help you. My wife always drinks Pinot Grigio but the bar did not carry this type. However, the manager on duty that night (Caroline) was so nice and suggested a few different whites’ wines. She actually provided several samples until my wife found a wine to her liking.

Superb and unique dining experience
I hesitate to write this review, for the simple reason that doing so would make it more difficult to get a reservation here in the future! I have to say this is an excellent restaurant all around -- I've lived in New York for over 20 years and have tried all kinds of restaurants, but this one really stands out as a neighborhood gem. I've been to Michelin-star restaurants in the city but would rather come here instead. I was reticent to go to a "hotel restaurant" for an evening date, but my preconceptions were totally unfounded. Service is incredibly attentive and pleasant, food is inventive and flavorful, and overall ambiance is pleasant and romantic. Adrienne was incredibly friendly as our server and hostess. We'll certainly be back!

"Excellent restaurant with a nice varied menu, lobster risotto our fav. Ambiance reminded me of a blend between STK and SLS hotel having a cool chic vibe, lots cushion bench seating, bookshelves, candles, etc. Recommended for sure.

Absolutely top-notch - if you are a local or not. If you need a place to eat in Midtown that isn't overpriced, isn't Asian food or a sandwich shop - then this is it. We were truly blown away.
I had the mushrooms as a side and I couldn't keep the rest of the people at my table out of them. They were so delicious. My son had the salmon club sandwich and devoured it, the chips were also another thing everyone shared. Everything was so flavorful and just perfect. We hit it around 1-2PM on a Monday afternoon, so after the lunch rush and didn't have to wait for a table.
The place is decorated SO WELL.
Can't wait to go back!!

"Myself and my 18 year old daughter came to New York for a week and decided on visiting the strand . This restaurant was very energetic, and full of life, very trendy and I personally enjoyed the ambiance and decor.
Food was delicious, sliders, fritters, prawns,Salmon, scallop was fab, ordered too much food however tried a couple of other foods to our usual taste, when such good chefs are doing the cooking good to try a couple of new dishes. Our waiter was very informative and friendly.

The Strand is a wonderful restaurant with excellent food and service to match. I frequent the Strand as often as possible, and just recently took my mom for her first experience. We did a chef tasting, and let me tell you my mom usually shares an appetizer, and has an entree; NO MORE THAN THAT. At the Strand she could not stop eating and left the restaurant in a euphoric state. We were there for what seemed like an hour and half that turned out to be 3!!!
When you are in good company, especially those you love, and you add the food, ambiance, and service of the Strand you are bound to experience pure bliss!
